DeLand, FL - The Volusia County Council has 17 items on the agenda and a dozen more on the consent agenda for today’s meeting. Council members are expected to take the next step in putting the ECHO and Volusia Forever programs on the November ballot.

Also on today’s agenda is a request from the Sheriff’s Office to seek and then accept a Central Florida High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area grant for more than two hundred thirty thousand dollars.

After Saturday’s first rocket launch from American soil with American astronauts aboard, Council members are expected to approve the creation of the Commercial Space Industry Opportunity Overlay in southeast Volusia County.

The county is expected to approve a SUN Trail grant agreement in order to receive more than one million dollars in funding from the Florida Department of Transportation. The money is to be used for the design costs of a segment of the Spring to Spring Trail in the Western DeLand area.
