DeLand, FL - After years of complaints from school board members and employees regarding the cleanliness of their campuses/classrooms, Volusia County Schools (VCS) is proposing a pilot in-house custodial operation.
The discussion is on the Volusia County School Board's (VCSB) workshop agenda tomorrow, March 30, at 1 p.m.
You can see the PowerPoint presentation here.
The program includes one elementary, one middle, and one high school from each district for a total of 15 schools. The goal is to compare the difference between outsourcing and in-house custodial services.
District Elementary Middle High
1 Manatee Cove DeLand DeLand
2 Sugar Mill Silver Sands Mainland
3 Read Pattillo Creekside Spruce Creek
4 Tomoka Holly Hill K-8 Seabreeze
5 Deltona Lakes Heritage Pine Ridge
The hope is to show that an in-house school-based custodial staff will perform at or above the current level of service that is being provided by an ABM contractor at a comparable or lesser cost to the district.
The VCSB meeting will take place tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
