Volusia County, FL- Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies will begin saturation patrols beginning Wednesday to crack down on impaired drivers. The message is simple, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.” The extra patrols will be concentrating on enforcing Florida’s impaired driving laws. The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign is designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving through high-visibility, zero tolerance enforcement. The enforcement campaign runs through Sept. 5. Law enforcement's goal is to keep roadways safe and reduce the numbers associated with impaired driving -- nearly 10,000 deaths in the United States every year. Sergeant Tom Tatum, supervisor of the Sheriff's Office's countywide motor unit said,“Sadly, drunk driving devastates thousands of families every year.” Tatum went on to say “Our message to drivers is very simple: Injuries and deaths caused by impaired drives are absolutely preventable.
