Osteen, FL - The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says the death of 4-year-old Hunter Gentry in Osteen on Saturday (October 26) appears to have been an accidental drowning.

Deputies responded to a CPR in progress call off Cowpen Road just before 11:30 a.m. The boy's father told deputies that he found the boy unresponsive in a pond on the property. The father started CPR efforts. First responders took over upon their arrival. Hunter was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando. He was pronounced dead this past Monday (October 27).

Investigators saw no signs of suspicious circumstances. They believe that Hunter left a work garage where his father and siblings were and went to the pond a short distance away. He was only gone a few minutes before his family noticed he was missing.

At this time, there's no further information available. The sheriff's Office is asking for respect for Hunter's family's privacy.
