Port Orange, FL - The man responsible for chasing and shooting a woman in Port Orange remains in jail without bond, facing numerous charges.

Officers with the Port Orange Police Department say Thursday morning's (October 1st) incident stemmed from a "rolling" domestic disturbance that began at the Legacy at Crystal Lakes apartments off of Floral Springs Boulevard.

According to the victim's narrative, she was attacked and had a knife held to her throat by her boyfriend, 25-year-old Patrick O'Cain, who resided with her at the apartment. She was able to escape and flee the apartment in her vehicle, which is when she called 911 and reported that she was being chased by O'Cain.

After leaving the apartments, the vehicles headed north on Clyde Morris Boulevard before turning eastbound onto Reed Canal Road. At that point, officers with the Port Orange and South Daytona police departments were moving to intercept O'Cain and the victim.

Just before 8:30 that morning, the vehicles began to approach the intersection of Charles Street and Ridgewood Avenue (US-1), which is when O'Cain reportedly rammed the victim several times, causing her to spin out of control. The two eventually crashed, with the victim's vehicle striking a light pole.

Immediately after crashing, O'Cain pointed a handgun at her vehicle and fired one shot that hit her in the left shoulder. Nearby officers arrived on the scene and were able to safely secure O'Cain, as well as render aid to the victim. Both were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center for treatment, while O'Cain was later transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.

He was charged with attempted first degree murder, shooting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery of a person using a deadly weapon. He remains in jail with no bond.
