Daytona Beach. FL - The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Volusia County now stands at 10. Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood reports that there are 66 households being monitored for the virus.

The latest statistics as of noon today, March 21, are 658 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Florida. Florida has performed 8,239 tests to date, and is awaiting 1,002 results.

No restaurants are able to offer dine-in service as Governor DeSantis issued an executive order to prohibit eat-in dining yesterday (March 20 ).  Many restaurants are still offering take-out and delivery service.

Beaches in Volusia County are still open but vehicle access ramps are closed through tomorrow evening and could be extended after evaluation.  Volusia County Interim Community Information Director said this is being done  " as a measure of crowd control."  He said, "These actions will provide Volusia County Beach Safety staff the ability to manage beachgoers and maintain safety by enforcing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines."

Beachgoers must observe the enhanced guidelines put in place by Governor DeSantis. Rules include limiting groups to ten people or less and maintaining a 6-foot distance from all other groups.
