Daytona Beach, FL - As Volusia County slowly reopens for business, management at Volusia Mall wants you to know they are taking precautions and following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.
The Mall has now been open for ten days and according to Stacey Keating, Mall spokesperson, about two dozen retailers and close to a dozen restaurants are open. "We actually have a list of retailers that have reopened available on our website. We have a little over two dozen retailers open right now," she said that includes national chains.
In order to keep the Mall sanitized, Keating said a number of procedures have been put in place. "We've placed hand sanitizer units throughout the property for customer use. We have enhanced all the cleaning and sanitizing of all high traffic common areas, with a focus on touchpoints."
Keating said groups of ten or more people are prohibited in the mall common area and everything located there remains closed. That means the food court seating, children's play, and the soft seating areas are closed. "As our retailers continue to reopen we expect that traffic will continue to build. We're excited to be able to welcome people back but we certainly understand that people may have concerns about coming into a public space so we have put a number of protective measures into place, as well."
Retailers are expected to follow any guidelines set forth by local or state officials. Keating said we're encouraging everyone on property to follow social distancing guidelines Groups of more than ten people are prohibited from congregating in the mall common area. We are requiring all management, security, and janitorial staff to wear masks and undergo health screenings and temperature checks. Anyone exhibiting symptoms or having a fever will be required to leave the property and contact their health care provider.
Volusia Mall is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
