Deltona, FL - Starting today (February 25th), Votran will launch a new fixed route and add some changes to several other routes.
That new route is now known as Route 25 and will service Deltona and operate primarily in the Howland Boulevard corridor.
The route runs from Dupont Lakes Shopping Center, west to City Hall, to the Center at Deltona, then to Halifax Health and Epic Theatres.
According to Rob Stephens, General Manager of Votran, this addition was approved by the county council to help address transportation needs in the Deltona and Orange City area.
The ribbon cutting for that route is set to take place at Deltona City Hall and, according to Stephens, some festivities will also be in place.
"We'll be doing some promotions," said Stephens during WNDB's Volusia Today program. "We'll also be offering a complimentary one-day pass to encourage folks to learn how to ride."
Before Route 25 was added, a new service was also added in New Smyrna. This addition, however, will mark the last to Votran route improvements approved recently by the Volusia County Council.
As for changes, Routes 21 and 22 will no longer provide service to the old Deltona Community Center on Lakeshore Drive. Both routes will still serve the Providence Boulevard corridor between Doyle Road and Lake Shore Drive.
Routes 20 through 23 will also no longer go into Crown Center in Orange City. Instead, 20 and 23 will stop near the entrance on Enterprise Road.
21 and 22 wil go directly to Marketplace from Enterprise Road. All routes will also continue to service the Marketplace connection point.
