VSO Says Suspect Paid Victim In Counterfeit Bills

Deltona, FL - Volusia Sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help in finding or identifying a man they say used counterfeit bills to buy a 10k semi solid gold bracelet through the Offer Up app.

The victim said the male suspect, described as a heavyset black male with long dreadlocks in a ponytail, came to her house to make the purchase. She said he showed her the money, in $20 denominations, counted what he owed in front of her, and waited while she recounted it. When the exchange was over, he left quickly in a black vehicle.

When the victim went back inside her home, she examined the bills further, realizing they were counterfeit.

Anyone with information about this suspect or the incident is asked to contact Deputy James via email at: RJames@vcso.us or call the non-emergency line at (386) 248-1777.
