Palm Coast, FL - A disturbance overheard by deputies ends with the arrest of a 27-year-old Palm Coast woman.

Deputies with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office responded to a home off of Beechwood Lane on Monday (June 24th), originally to serve an arrest warrant for a resident at the home.

When there was no answer at the door, deputies visited the homes of neighbors to find out where the fugitive was. One neighbor suggested deputies check another house down the road, as the fugitive was known to visit with those neighbors.

Authorities took the hint and walked to the home, where the homeowner allowed them inside to verify that the fugitive was not there.

Another resident of the home, Megan Moss, was awakened by the deputies being in the home and became very angry.

She exited the residence wearing only a t-shirt and underwear and began screaming at the deputies for waking her and the homeowner for letting them in.

The homeowner went for a walk to attempt to diffuse the situation and Moss followed him screaming at the top of her lungs while she pulled on him.

Deputies warned Moss that they would have to place her under arrest if she touched the homeowner again and attempted to get her to calm down and return home.

After they continued to make contact at the home with the arrest warrant, they again heard Moss screaming at the homeowner. Deputies then heard the back sliding glass door of the home slam shut and immediately heard a child cry out in pain.

One deputy rushed to the home where they found a two-year-old child bleeding from the hand. Rescue was then requested to come to the home and help with the child's injury.

After calling for help, the deputy found that the top of the child's thumb had been severed by the door Moss had slammed.

The deputy noted in his report that "it was apparent that due to Ms. Moss' level of intoxication, she was acting irrational with disregard for her children's safety."

The child was transported to the hospital where it was unclear whether the injury would cause permanent disfigurement.

Moss accompanied the child to the hospital. A warrant was issued for her arrested and she was taken into custody the next day (June 25th), charged with child neglect with great bodily harm and driving with a suspended license.

She's currently in custody at Flagler County Jail on a $8,500 bond.

This is the third child abuse case in the area this week.

First, two Oak Hill residents were charged with child neglect after a child was found trying to cross US-1 by themselves.

And another couple in DeLand was recently arrested after police found drugs near a child while the child was in a bug infested vehicle.
