DeLand, FL - So far no charges have been filed in a shooting that left one DeLand man in critical condition.

The Volusia Sheriff's Office says two calls placed around 10 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 5) sent deputies to the home where the shooting took place—the 400 block of South Blue Lake Avenue—and the location of a man injured in said shooting—a home on South Kentucky Avenue—just a mile and a half away.

At a home on South Blue Lake, detectives spoke with a woman who said her ex-boyfriend showed up at the home and confronted her and her current boyfriend. That confrontation eventually led to a fight in the front yard where the ex reportedly armed himself with a brick. That’s when the other man got a handgun and shot the ex.

From there, the ex, who has been identified only as a 50-year-old DeLand man, drove from the scene to a home on Kentucky Avenue before being transported to the hospital. Deputies say the man was listed in critical condition following emergency surgery. The extent of his injuries and his current condition is not known at the time of this writing.

As of right now no charges have been filed as the investigation is active and ongoing.
