16 Year-Old Shot and Killed in Daytona Wednesday Night

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - 16 year-old Fredrick Cooper was shot and killed in Daytona Beach last night according to information released by the Daytona Beach Police Department. The incident occurred near the 400 block of Hudson Street according to a police report.

The DBPD has said that Cooper was shot multiple times, and was pronounced dead later on at the hospital. As of Thursday morning there is still no suspect in custody or even identified. Police Chief Jakari Young has called on the community to assist in the investigation with any relevant information.

“Without community involvement, it will be very difficult to solve this case," Young said in comments reported by WESH. "It will be very difficult, but I think, we do have a rapport with the community, so I’m hoping today we’ll generate the leads that we need."

Lots of key information, like the motive for the shooting, is still unclear. The shooter was said to have been wearing black clothing at the time of the incident according to police.
