Flagler County, FL - Update: The 19-year-old suspect who fired at a Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputy is now in custody.
Phillip Haire Jr. turned himself in just before 9:30 PM on Tuesday at the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly held a press conference at the Sheriff's Operation Center in Bunnell later that night.
“This is the result of hard work by every member of Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and our neighboring sheriff’s offices and law enforcement agencies, specifically Putnam County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Staly said. “We followed every lead and put significant pressure on his known associates. Because of this, the suspect decided it was in his best interest to turn himself into Putnam Sheriff’s Office. This is the best possible outcome.”
Haire shot at Sergeant Reynolds on Monday afternoon after a 911 report of threats made at 11 London Dr in Palm Coast. Luckily, no one was hurt during the shooting. Haire then fled the scene, wrecked his vehicle, then carjacked another vehicle at gunpoint. He's scheduled to be transferred to the Flagler County Inmate Facility on Wednesday.
