Two people were arrested after a barricaded standoff with police in Port Orange on Thursday. 54-year-old Jennifer Halbrook and 36-year-old Eric Johnson were named as suspects by the Port Orange Police Department.

According to the POPD, a domestic disturbance call was received at about 10:18 a.m. on Thursday. Police responded to a residence on Tall Pine Drive, located within the Deep Forest subdivision.

When officers arrived, Johnson was said to have walked outside saying Halbrook - his wife - had a knife and was attempting to light the house on fire. Halbrook herself then exited the home, police say, holding a 'large, bladed object in her hand holding it over her head in an aggressive manner'.

Halbrook reportedly refused commands by police to drop the blade. She then went back inside. At this point, further personnel joined the response from the Southeast Volusia Regional SWAT and the Coastal Crisis Negotiations Team.

A negotiation between law enforcement ensued. Eventually Halbrook was said to have exited without further incident. She was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail without bond. Halbook remains in custody as of Friday afternoon.

Johnson was also arrested for resisting officers without violence. This offense reportedly occurred during the early stages of the investigation. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on Thursday and posted his $150 bond for release late Friday morning.

Halbrook has several other arrests on record in Volusia County. Charges include domestic battery, cocaine possession, drug paraphernalia possession, and violation of conditional pretrial release among others.
