Florida – Soon, the 2017 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday will begin in Florida, giving tax-exempt status to some items relating to disaster preparedness.
Passed and signed into law by both the Florida Legislature and Governor Rick Scott, this Tax Holiday will start at 12:01 AM on Friday, June 2 and will end at 11:59 PM on Sunday, June 4.
While many items will be considered tax-exempt on these days, items that may appear to be tax-free but are rented or repaired do not qualify. Sales in theme parks, entertainment complexes, public lodgings or airports do not count in this Holiday either.
To see a full list of qualifying items and to learn more about the Tax Holiday, visit the Department of Revenue's Tax Information Publication (TIP) and go to their Frequently Asked Questions.
