DeLand, FL - Volusia County investigators report that a rape that occurred at a DeLand-area motel has been linked to a male suspect.

The Volusia Sheriff's Office says 40-year-old LeShawn Thompson, who lives at the Budget Inn off of East New York Avenue, is the man they are accusing of raping an adult female back on Wednesday (July 8th).

According to their report, the victim stated that she was looking for a friend when Thompson entered the room, locked the door and pinned her down before sexually battering her.

Investigators say Thompson has a lengthy criminal history that includes 21 felony arrests with nine convictions, with misdemeanor arrests actually mirroring those initial figures with 21 arrests and nine convictions.

Thompson was also arrested in 2011 after DeLand police charged him with molestation after he was caught touching a 13-year-old girl inappropriately. Deputies say Thompson pled no contest in that case and served 255 days in jail.

Additionally, investigators say he also goes by the names "Sean Richardson" and "Sean Feaster."

Anyone with information about his current whereabouts is asked to contact 911. You may also contact Detective Brandon Ellis at (386) 943-7866.
