Daytona Beach, FL - In accordance with new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, AdventHealth will now allow two visitors per day per patient amid a decline in COVID-19 cases.
A press release from the organization says a steady decline in cases across their Central Florida Division has led facilities to transition into a "green" status—meaning business as usual without restrictions on procedures.
With the change in status, AdventHealth will now allow patients who are not suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 two visitors per day. Visitors are allowed to leave and come back to a facility in the same day, but the original two visitors are the only ones permitted to enter the hospital for that day.
"They do not need to be the same during the duration of the patient's admission," said Linnette Johnson, chief nursing officer for AdventHealth’s Central Florida division. "But certainly the same visitors for that particular day can come and go."
In addition, pediatric patients and end-of-life (EOL) patients will be allowed two visitors at a time regardless of their COVID-19 status; but EOL patients will be allowed up to six visitors per day. Non-COVID patients may also receive a clerical visit in addition to two visitors per day.
Video visits and expanded telehealth services are also still available to provide additional comfort and convenience for patients and their families.
And, despite a decline in cases, mask guidelines will remain in place for both employees and visitors. All visitors and staff will be temperature checked before entering a facility and they must wear a surgical/loop mask. Visitors are also required to comply with any social distancing, hand hygiene, and other PPE requirements during their visit.
