DeLand, FL - COVID-19 antibody testing begins tomorrow in the Hester Building at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. The testing takes place Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Florida Health Source will conduct the testing there after consolidating the Daytona Beach and Deltona sites to the fairgrounds. You can still be tested for COVID-19.
The test is a blood draw and will show if you’ve been infected by COVID-19 or possibly a related coronavirus.
You do not need an appointment for the testing but do need to show a photo ID. There is no co-pay if you have insurance and no charge for the uninsured.
State Representative David Santiago said that the hope is that those who test positive for antibodies will go on to donate plasma. "Once a patient has had their blood drawn for the antibody testing, and if determined to have antibodies, my hope is that they will then go to CSL Plasma to donate plasma so we can better understand Covid-19 with the hope of finding better treatments.” He said that CSL is acting as a referral partner to Family Health Source in the fight against Covid-19.
