On November 14th, Volusia County homeowners will be able to apply for Transform386, a financial aid program for those affected by Hurricane Ian. The program opens up funds provided by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development to help homeowners recover from the disastrous storm damage that hit Volusia in 2022.
Transform386 was made possible after President Joe Biden's disaster declaration following the impact of Hurricane Ian. The resources allocated for Volusia County were determined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)'s assessments and data.
There will be stipulations in place for those wishing to apply. Applicants must not have a household income exceeding 120% of the area median, and must have owned the home at the time of Ian's impact, and still own it now. Priority for recovery funding will be given to those in lower-income households, and households with members under 17, over 65, or with a disability.
Online applications will open on November 14th at Transform386's official website. Homeowners who need in-person assistance with applying for the grant will have the opportunity to access it at several of the county's public libraries. That period will be on Thursday, November 16th, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the following locations:
