BCU Campaign Aimed At Solving Financial Issues

Daytona Beach, FL - As part of a new funding campaign, Bethune-Cookman University takes a small step towards solving its ongoing financial crisis.

Today (March 29th), the "We Are Our Answer BCU Campus Cohort" will host a check presentation to officially kick off the second phase of their campaign.

The campaign is aimed at increasing support for university operations following financial challenges that pose a threat to BCU's accreditation.

"Phase one of our two-part campaign was to raise $15,000 from the Campus Alumni Cohort and then lead the effort in phase two to raise $1.5 million from alumni and friends," said Dr. Camesha Whittaker-Manzueta, director of the BCU B.J. Moore Center.

Recently, the Cohort presented the campaign's goals to nearly 100 individuals during the 9th annual Alumni Day of Service that's hosten on the campus of BCU.

Lately, the university has undergone some reorganization to help the institution. According to BCU, that included a hiring freeze, reductions in staff and furloughs.

The presentation begins at 9 a.m. at the President's Banquet Room in the Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center.
