Ormond Beach, FL - A biker is killed in an early-morning crash and an officer is sent to the hospital after his car was hit during the investigation.
The Ormond Beach Police Department says that officers were called to the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck off of Ocean Shore Boulevard around 1:40 this morning (March 8th).
The driver of the bike, who has yet to be identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers on the scene closed Ocean Shore Boulevard and began their investigation.
During the investigation, police say that an Ormond Beach squad car that was parked to block traffic – with an officer inside – was struck by another motorist. That officer was transported to the hospital to be checked out. There is no word if the other motorist was injured.
