Blood Drive To Honor Volusia County Paramedic Who Died From COVID-19

Port Orange, FL - One month ago tomorrow, a veteran first responder with the Volusia County Emergency Medical Services team, Gerald “Jerry” Jones passed away due to COVID-19. He’s being honored today and tomorrow. 

A blood drive hosted by OneBlood and organized by the Volusia Ambulance Association takes place today to remember Jones who had been a member of the county's EMS team since 1999.

The blood drive is taking place at VFW Post 3282, located at 5810 South Williamson Boulevard in Port Orange from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

All donors receive a wellness checkup, which includes a COVID-19 antibody test. 

Tomorrow, Jones will be honored with a blood drive at DeLand Fire Station 83, located on East Taylor Road.
