Volusia County, FL - Deputies say a dead body recently found near State Road 415 is that of a 35-year-old Deltona man.
The Volusia Sheriff's Office (VSO) says investigators have recently determined the deceased to be Kavon Jamal Banks of Deltona. A motorist discovered Banks' remains around 2:30 Sunday afternoon (June 20) near one of the intersections of State Road 415 and Lake Ashby Road.
According to records from the Volusia County Division of Corrections, Banks has been in and out of the Volusia County Branch Jail multiple times between 2013 and 2020. Records from the Florida Department of Corrections also shows that Banks was released from custody in December 2020 after serving almost two years in a state facility.
No other details about the case are available as the investigation into Banks' death remains active and ongoing. We will pass along updates as they come.
