Bunnell, FL - The wife of a disabled 48-year-old legally blind Bunnell man who went missing in March then was found dead on April 7th was arrested on Monday and is accused of killing her husband.
Dorothy Calista Singer, 52, was arrested on the afternoon of May 8 for 1st-degree murder. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at the couple's home, 80 Pine Tree Ln in Bunnell, on April 7th and Charles William "Butch" Singer's body was found near the back of the property. According to FCSO, Singer died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Detectives found the firearm they believe was used in the murder. Detectives kept Dorothy Singer under surveillance and found out she was planning to fake her own death and leave the state. She was arrested on State Road A1A in St. Johns County.
Sheriff Rick Staly held a press conference Tuesday morning and said the "case could be from a Dateline episode." He praised the work of Detectives Jodi Glasgow and Annie Conrad. “As always, we have received great cooperation and support from both the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Staly said. “This is great work from our detectives and we’re happy to have this woman behind bars.”
The investigation is ongoing to see if anyone else was involved in the murder.
