Daytona Beach, FL - Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood takes to social media and announces how many possible Covid-19/Coronavirus exposures Volusia County is watching.

Currently, the number is up to 23.

According to Sheriff Chitwood, there are only five actual confirmed cases in Volusia as of yesterday morning (March 15th). But, there are currently 23 overall households in Volusia County that are being monitored because "there are reasons to believe they might have been exposed to coronavirus."

"I want to say that our local Department of Health officials here in Volusia County are true professionals who are doing the best they can under the constraints placed on them by the state," said Chitwood in his post. "My issue is with the stranglehold on information, which is a decree that comes down from Tallahassee and causes an information vacuum, which causes needless frustration and panic."

Currently, DeLand has the highest number of households currently being monitored for possible exposure.
