City Manager Search Down to 5 Candidates

Daytona Beach, FL - The field in Daytona Beach's city manager search has been narrowed down to five candidates who will speak at an upcoming candidate forum in March.

Their names are Deric Feacher, Caryn Gardner-Young, Thomas J. Hutka, Terrence R. Moore and Terry K. Suggs. (You can click on the candidates names to view their resumes).

The search to fill the vacant city manager spot began last March after longtime City Manager Jim Chisholm announced his retirement after nearly 17 years of service to Daytona Beach. Months after Chisholm announced his departure, the city launched a nationwide search—conducted by Slavin Management Consultants—for candidates and opened up applications for the job.

The search yielded 57 applications, which was eventually narrowed down to the remaining five candidates. According to the city, candidate vetting included a comprehensive questionnaire and a background investigation.

The public will have a chance to meet the candidates at a forum planned for March 20th at the Midtown Cultural & Educational Center found off of George W. Engram Boulevard. At the forum, residents will be able to hear more from the candidates and also ask questions. If you cannot attend the forum, you can view it live on DBTV, which can be found online or on Spectrum channel 490.

Candidates will also have formal one-on-one interviews with members of the City Commission on March 27th, followed by a special City Commission meeting to discuss and select the top candidate.
