City of DeBary Announces Halloween Decoration Contest, Junior Tennis Program

Posted

The City of DeBary announced a series of upcoming events this month, open to a variety of residents for participation. A Halloween house decoration contest will be taking place in late October with registration opening this month, while a five-week junior tennis program is set to begin next week.

Halloween House Decorating Contest

DeBary residents who enjoy dressing up their homes to get into the Halloween spirit will have the perfect chance to do so. Registration for the Debary's Spooktacular Halloween House Decorating Contest will open on September 16th, and run until October 21st. During that, residents can enter their homes into the running for the best-decorated in the whole city for the Halloween season.

Entrance is free, open to DeBary residents only, and can be completed at City Hall. Judging will be taking place from October 24th to 27th, so the winner of the contest can be chosen before trick-or-treaters descend upon the neighborhoods with open buckets and empty stomachs.

Junior Tennis at Keller Park

A junior tennis program will be offered for kids in DeBary, split across two sessions running from September 11th to November 13th. Registration is $75 per child for ages four through seven, and $99 per child for ages eight through thirteen. There will be one session per week on Wednesdays, administered by professional instructor Fred Schwan.

Session 1 will run from September 11th through October 9th, with Session 2 spanning October 16th to November 13th. The 'Munchkins' group (ages four to seven) will meet each Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm, while the 'Future Stars' (ages eight to thirteen) will meet directly after from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Those looking to register are asked to contact the instructors at (386) 837-9123.
