City Of DeLand Makes It Clear: Mask Mandate Is Still In Effect

Posted

DeLand, FL -  When the Volusia County Council approved a resolution earlier this week acknowledging that face coverings are effective in helping to stop the spread of COVID-19, rumors started in DeLand that the city's mask mandate expired. That is not correct, according to DeLand Community Information Specialist Chris Graham.

Graham said in a press release that the city appreciates the county's resolution but is not a uniform, county-wide, ordinance, resolution, or other order regulating face coverings. He said while the resolution approved by the county urges the use of face coverings, it does not specifically require the wearing of or regulate face coverings in any way.

Accordingly, the city of DeLand's mask ordinance is in "full force and effect." The city appreciates the residents and businesses who are taking COVID-19 seriously because "working together as a community we will be able to defeat this virus."
