Construction & Lane Closures Begins June 5 In Volusia County

Volusia County, FL -- The Florida Department of Transportation will be constructing paved shoulders along grassed medians at five locations within Volusia County.

The work, to be completed by Rogar Management & Consulting of Florida, is needed to help protect the condition of the roadway and provide added safety for motorists when a vehicle leaves the travel lane.  The additional shoulder removes drop-off conditions at the edge of the travel lane caused by rutting from vehicles driving on the grass or dirt.

The five locations are:

  • S.R. 472 from U.S. 17/92 to just west of the I-4 interchange near DeLand
  • U.S. 17/92 from west of New York Avenue to west of Firehouse Road in Orange City
  • S.R. 15/U.S. 17 from east of Glenwood Road to west of East Davis Street in DeLand
  • U.S. 1 from Industrial Park Drive to north of Harbor Road in New Smyrna Beach
  • S.R. 40 from east of Pinto Lane to west of Indian Springs Drive near Ormond Beach

Work begins June 5 on S.R. 40 and will require single lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. One lane of travel will be maintained in each direction at all times.  Once work is completed along the S.R. 40 segment, the contractor is expected to work on the S.R. 15/U.S. 17 segment, also from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lane closure restrictions will be in place on the other segments to reduce impact during peak travel times. The project is expected to be finished by early 2018.

Please note work schedules may be affected by weather or other circumstances. Construction updates can be found on the Central Florida website www.cflroads.com.
