Councilman-Elect Lance Green Arrested for DUI

Posted

Lance Green, the man recently elected to the Port Orange City Council, was arrested on Saturday on three charges related to an alleged drunk driving incident. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail early Saturday and released after five hours in custody.

For his alleged conduct, Green was charged with driving under the influence, D.U.I. with property damage, and obstructing an officer without violence. His bond was set at $2,000.

The arrest came less than two weeks after Green won his election for the Port Orange City Council's District 4 seat. He beat opponent Joe Mialki with 55.56% of the vote, a margin of 1,990 votes. Neither candidate was the incumbent, with current seat-holder Scott Stiltner instead running a successful campaign for Port Orange Mayor.

As of now it's unclear how the case may affect Green's transition into office, which is slated for November. Neither he nor the City of Port Orange have released a statement on the incident as of Monday afternoon.
