COVID-19 Vaccine Coming To Volusia & Flagler

Posted

The latest announcement from Governor Ron DeSantis shows that the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine may finally make it to Volusia & Flagler counties sometime next week.

According to a press release, the state expects to receive about 367,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine—the counterpart to the Pfizer vaccine that does not require special refrigeration—but that's if the vaccine gets emergency use authorization from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) sometime soon.

Once the doses are received, the state said they will be distributed to 173 hospitals in 43 different counties. Eight of those hospitals include facilities spread throughout both Volusia and Flagler County, such as those operated by AdventHealth and Halifax Health.

A full list of local institutions receiving the doses include:

  • AdventHealth Daytona Beach
  • AdventHealth DeLand
  • AdventHealth Fish Memorial (Orange City)
  • AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach
  • AdventHealth Palm Coast
  • Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach
  • Halifax Health Medical Center of Port Orange
  • Halifax Health | UF Health Medical Center of Deltona

As of this time, there is no specific date or time as to when these doses will be distributed. We'll provide updates once they are available.
