Daytona Beach, FL - A free walk-up, no appointment needed COVID-19 testing site is popping up in Daytona Beach for a limited time.
City officials report that the site will open for the first time tomorrow morning (May 15th). The site can be found at the Midtown Cultural and Educational Center, which is found off of George Engram Boulevard.
A prescription is also not needed. The test will be a nasal swab and 200 people will be tested a day. After samples are collected they will be sent to a commercial laboratory for testing. Results will be provided within a week, according to the city.
The free testing will be available for people over 18 years old, regardless of their symptoms. A photo ID is required; however, city residency is not a requirement. The site opens at 9 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m., while supplies last. Testing continues Tuesday (May 19th) and runs until Thursday (May 21st).
The site was made possible through a partnership between the city of Daytona Beach, the Florida Division of Emergency Management, the Florida Department of Health and the Florida National Guard.
