Daytona Beach, FL - In continuation of local preparations for coronavirus, the City of Daytona Beach announces a state of emergency that will revoke all permits for outdoor events.

And yes, that includes Bike Week.

That revocation will be effective beginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow (March 14th). Susan Cerbone, spokesperson for the city, says that the emergency order will be effective today and last seven days, ending next Friday (March 20th).

According to Cerbone, the delcaration makes additional emergency resources available to assist in event of an emergency response and gives the city greater flexibility to procure needed resources.

The city is also canceling or postponing all public and private community events utilizing city-owned facilities with more than 100 or more people in a single room. This will include performances at the Peabody Auditorium and the April 4th Easter Beach Run. City-sponsored programs for senior citizens at city facilities have also been canceled.

During the declaration, utility services will not be discontinued or disconnected due to non-payment of fees.
