Daytona Beach, FL - Crews respond to a fire at a building housing a local media outlet.

The Daytona Beach Fire Department says units were called to the scene off of Doctor M.L.K. Boulevard at the offices of the Daytona Times – a prominent news source in Volusia & Flagler's African-American communities – earlier this afternoon (March 11th).

Sasha Staton, the public information officer for the DBFD, says that the building had heavy flames and smoke throughout the structure causing extensive damage. No one was inside at the time of the fire.

Staton also confirms that the State Fire Marshal was called to investigate the cause of the fire.
