Daytona Beach, FL – A Daytona woman is accused of using a dating app to lure and carjack two men, ultimately resulting in the attempted homicide of a 17-year-old involved.
Kyandrea C. Cook, 18, messaged a 27-year-old Palm Coast man, Perry Nida, through the dating app “MeetMe” on March 23 and agreed to meet at a house behind the Long John Silvers on Ridgewood Ave. in South Daytona. Nida invited his 17-year-old friend along to provide marijuana to sell to Cook.
When the 17-year-old was weighing out the marijuana for Cook in the back seat, a man in a ski mask opened the back driver’s side door and pointed a gun with a laser at them telling Nida to get out of the car. The 17-year-old then tried to grab the gun from the man, causing him to shoot into the car twice, hitting the 17-year-old in the stomach.
The suspects ran off and Nida drove the 17-year-old to Halifax Hospital, where he was unable to talk to police due to his injuries.
The next day, another man, Dondre Amador, began speaking with Cook on the same dating app. Cook was now going by the alias, Shammai Taylor. They both agreed to meet at the Sunoco gas station on Big Tree Rd. and Ridgewood Ave. From there, Cook told Amador to go to James Street Park in South Daytona.
Upon arriving, Amador got into the backseat with Cook. Amador says that four black males approached the car asking for a lighter. Amador opened the door and one of the men pointed a gun with a laser at him telling him to get out of the car. When he did, the four men and Cook got into Amador’s white 2001 Nissan 4-door (Florida tag GNQJ66) and sped off.
Police were able to identify Cook as the suspect in both cases after descriptions from Nida and Amador led them to her apartment near the scene of the first incident. Both men identified Cook in a photo lineup.
Cook was arrested at Mainland High School and charged with attempted homicide, attempted carjacking and carjacking.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Lt. Dan Dietrich at 386-322-3041 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS.
