ATLANTA, Ga. - Volusia County-born race car driver Daniel Dye earned the first NASCAR pole award of his career on Friday, in the second race of the season at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The achievement came in his 24th career start.
Dye had a career day this past Friday in Atlanta, rolling off first in the Fr8 208. It was a good impression for the second race he's driven with his new team, McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, with whom he signed a contract in the offseason. Dye's good performance didn't just stop with the pole, as he also raced to his second career top-ten in the Craftsman Truck Series with a ninth-place finish.
This is Dye's second year in the Truck Series after being promoted from the ARCA Menards Series for 2023. Last year Dye ran the full 23-race schedule, with a season-best 6th-place finish coming at Talladega. He ranked 18th in the season standings at the end of the year.
Dye was born in DeLand in 2003, growing up in a racing family and eventually finding himself ascending the ranks in NASCAR competition. Now 20 years old, he's competing full-time in the Craftsman Truck Series as well as part-time in the Xfinity Series for Kaulig Racing. He drives the iconic #43 made famous by NASCAR legend Richard Petty, who has given Dye his blessing to carry the torch in his formative years as a NASCAR racer.
