Delta, American Adding Daytona Beach Flights

Future of New York flights uncertain

Daytona Beach, FL - After they scaled back their schedules because of COVID-19 restrictions, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines are adding future flights to and from Daytona Beach International Airport.

As of right now, Delta only has one arriving and departing flight, while American has two daily arriving and departing flights.

Starting this Saturday (June 27th), Delta will add a second arrival and departure, with a third that's due to begin on July 2nd.

Similarly, American will add two arrivals and departures on July 7th. One of those flights will operate an Airbus A319, which is a larger aircraft that seats 52 more passengers than the airline's Bombardier CRJ900's, which is already used for flights out of DBIA.

However, these new flights that are coming to Daytona Beach will only service the hubs that Delta and American already serve: Atlanta and Charlotte. Joanne Magley, Director of Marketing & Customer Experience at DBIA, said it's unclear if American will continue weekly service to New York's LaGuardia Airport this summer.

"A lot of airlines are waiting to see where the demand is coming from," said Magley to News Daytona Beach. "Then they're just making decisions and making changes accordingly."

Daytona's passengers are encouraged by the airport to check their airline's schedules and websites regularly to monitor for changes in flights and flight requirements.

Delta and American have already mandated that face coverings on flights are required. Passengers are also encouraged to follow CDC guidelines as they navigate through DBIA.
