Deltona Fire Dept. And Partners Plan Back To School Event

Deltona, FL - Students in Volusia County head back to school a week from this Monday and the Deltona Fire Department, along with several community partners, is holding a Back to School Safety Day this Sunday.
Deltona Fire Department Coordinator Emma Santiago said AdventHealth, Halifax Health, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Volusia County Schools and the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County. Other agencies involved are the Volusia County Hispanic Association, Florida Kid Care, Family Health Source and OneBlood.

The goal of the event is to host a fun day to help families prepare to go back to school. Santiago says highlights of the event include a school supply and backpack giveaway. Free physicals, immunizations, eye exams, and vision tests will be available.

Fire Department personnel will be on hand to offer car and booster seat safety checks. Also free at the event are haircuts and food and drinks. Vendors will be present. Several events and educational opportunities will be offered during the day.

Students must be present to receive a backpack and/or school supplies and both will be available while supplies last. The "Back to School" event takes place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. this Sunday, August 4, at The Center in Deltona on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard.
