Drugs, Loaded Weapons Found In Motel Room With Children Present

Daytona Beach, FL - A 37-year-old man is facing multiple charges including armed trafficking, drug possession and child neglect after a recent raid carried out by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Yesterday (July 24th), members of the East Volusia Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant on a room at the Days Inn off of West International Speedway Boulevard.

Inside that room, detectives found five firearms (two of them were stolen), 136 grams of methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), 3.6 grams of MDMA/ecstasy, 2.5 grams of cocaine, 0.3 grams of heroin and around a gram of an unknown white powder.

Investigators also found pills including hydromorphone, clonzepan, morphine, oxycodone and buprenorphine, along with two scales containing residue of cocain and MDPV, and almost $4,000 in cash.

Three of the guns found were loaded and three children were also present in the room. VCSO noted that the drugs and weapons were easily accessible and within the reach of a child.

This raid ended with the arrest of Richard Boston, who now faces a multitude of charges including armed trafficking, rental of a structure for the purpose of narcotics trafficking and multiple possession and possession with intent to sell charges.

Investigators also tacked on charges related to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, grand theft of a firearm and child neglect.

Another adult was arrested at the motel on an active warrant for failure to appear on a domestic battery charge. VCSO has not released their identity.

Boston was transported to the Volusia County Jail, where he's being held on a bond worth $258,000.
