Earlier reporting below.

Daytona Beach, FL - A Daytona Beach police officer suffered serious injuries after a woman now charged with drunk driving hit his SUV.

A report from Florida Highway Patrol, who is handling the investigation, says the 34-year-old officer was stopped just east of the intersection of Clyde Morris and LPGA Boulevards investigating a crash around 9:00 Wednesday night (Feb. 9).

At some point, 22-year-old Aubree Juergens was headed eastbound and failed to slow down before slamming into the officer’s marked police SUV, which in turn hit the officer. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

An email from FHP says Juergens was found to be over twice the legal limit with a blood alcohol content level of .187 percent. She was arrested and charged with DUI and remains in jail on a $3,500 bond. She’s set to make her first appearance before a judge on Friday (Feb. 10).

The officer’s condition and name is not known at this time. We’ll pass along updates as they’re made available.
