Early Morning Accident Shuts Down I-4 For Hours

Seminole County, FL - The westbound lanes of I-4 are open again after being shut down for about four hours this morning (December 4). Lieutenant Kim Montes reports that the accident happened around 6 a.m. near S.R. 434 in Seminole County.

An 18-wheeler, driven by 41-year-old Julio Gonzalez of DeLand, carrying plywood and other construction material, was traveling in the center lane. The report states that witnesses say the 18-wheeler drifted into the left lane and suddenly swerved back to the center. The load shifted and flipped the 18-wheeler onto it's left side. The trailer of the truck hit an SUV traveling in the left lane, driven by 31-year-old Cruz Martinez Ordonez.

The contents of the 18-wheeler spilled across the road. It took crews a few hours to pick everything up and get the semi turned upright.

Though the accident caused serious issues during the morning drive, Gonzalez only had minor injuries and Ordonez did not suffer any injuries.

Montes said the crash is still under investigation and that charges are pending.
