EDGEWATER, Fla. - 22 year-old Josef Griffin of Edgewater was arrested on Monday by the Volusia Sheriff's Office and subsequently charged with 22 counts of child porn possession, the agency announced Tuesday. Police were led to his location after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Griffin turned himself in on Monday and was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail shortly after 7:00 pm. His bond was initially set at $250,000 and he's still in custody as of the writing of this report.
A search warrant was issued to examine Griffin's 291 Costa Rica address for evidence, leading to the seizure of phones, computers, laptops, iPads, and tablets. The age range of juveniles whose explicit media was found in Griffin's home was four to eleven.
It's currently believed Griffin likely distributed the material to other individuals. The Volusia Sheriff's Office is asking members of the public who may have information on Griffin's case to contact the VSO Child Exploitation Unit by calling (386) 323-3574.
