Eleven People Shot, Wounded in Lakeland Monday Afternoon

No Deaths as of Tuesday Morning

LAKELAND, Fla. - Eleven people at least were shot and wounded on Monday in Lakeland according to police. No deaths were reported as of Tuesday morning but two of the victims were said to be in critical condition. It occurred at 3:43 pm on North Iowa Ave.

According to a statement from Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor, a dark blue Nissan sedan pulled up to the scene with the assailants. Four shooters are said to have fired shots from each of the car's four windows.

The current belief is that the shooting was targeted. The two victims in critical condition were men ages 20 and 35. Already a $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to arrests. Those with important information are urged to call 1-900-226-TIPS.

Adding some context to the still-mysterious shooting is a belief by police that the event in question was a sale of marijuana; an unspecified large amount of the drug was discovered at the scene.

A press conference by the Lakeland Police Department Tuesday announced that the vehicle used in the shooting had been found, but none of the suspects were in custody as of yet.
