DeLand, FL - County officials say the Volusia County Fairgrounds testing site will extend its operations once again, this time with another two weeks of testing.
Originally, the site was slated to close after Thursday (October 15th), but an email from Volusia County spokesperson Kevin Captain says the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) has extended the life of the site, pushing its last day instead to October 30th.
“We’re thrilled to have the county work so closely with the Florida Division of Emergency Management in offering this important COVID-19 testing,” said Emergency Management Director Jim Judge. “It’s easy. It’s free. And, test results are given within two to five days. This is a great service to Volusia County.”
The indoor location—the Hester building—will continue to allow the site to operate seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with viral COVID-19 testing. Appointments are still not required. Interested parties can register at the fairgrounds.
No symptoms are required, testing is for individuals five years or older, and individuals who are 18 or older must have a picture ID. You can find out more by visiting the county's testing page.
