Fan Voting Open for 2027 Daytona 500 Grass Design

Posted

Daytona International Speedway has opened voting for the design to be featured in the infield grass for the 2027 Daytona 500. The winning design will be front and center for the 69th running of The Great American race on Sunday, February 21, 2027. Three designs have been put forth, each with a unique theme tied to the iconic race.

The first, 'Star-Spangled Skies', features the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds that conduct the ceremonial flyover prior to the green flag. The second, 'Racing in Motion', paints dual checkered flags on either side of a starry design at the center of grass. Finally, 'World Center of Racing' places the titular phrase across nearly the entire diameter of the grass, with checkered flags and stars as accents.

Voting opened Tuesday, October 20 and will continue through Wednesday, October 28. The winning design will be turned into a reality for Florida's most iconic motorsports event in February. With some of the iconic moments which have played out on the speedway's infield grass, whatever fans choose may well be enshrined in racing history.

Fans can vote on the design of their choice at Daytona International Speedway's official website. Tickets for the 2027 Daytona 500 are on sale now, with an eventual sellout considered probable.
