Bunnell, FL - A local Flagler County non-profit gets a large grant from the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties.
And that grant, a total of $200,000 given to the Flagler County Education Foundation, will be used to develop a career coaching program for Flagler Schools as part of their Classroom to Careers program.
The career coaching program is a mentoring program where people in the community are matched up with a student in one of their Classroom to Careers program.
For example, a retired or current fire fighter would be paired up with a student in the Fire Leadership Flagship program at Flagler Palm Coast High School.
There are currently 21 different Classroom to Careers flagship programs with two new programs being added in the near future to bring the total up to 23.
The grant will also be broken up into two parts. The first half will be given this school year and the remaining will come into effect in the 2020-2021 school year.
Any residents interested in becoming a career coach with one of their flagship programs can contact Doug Glasco at email@example.com.
