Flagler OARS and Discover & Recover St. Johns Launch T-Shirt Design Contest

Posted

Two of the area’s foremost organizations supporting recovery from substance addiction are collaborating to launch a t-shirt design contest ahead of a larger planned event. Flagler Open Arms Recovery Services (OARS) and Discover & Recover St. Johns are working together to put on Recovery Fest 2024, with the community helping design the official shirt of the event.

The t-shirt design will be open until Monday, July 15th. Those seeking to submit designs can do so by emailing dragonflyvisions2023@gmail.com. Participants must be 18 years old or older, but the contest is otherwise unrestricted. Those making a design are told to create something to “symbolize the journey of overcoming substance use disorders, conveying messages of strength, growth, and celebration of recovery.”

Submissions will be judged on their creativity, relevance to the theme, aesthetics, messaging, and technical quality according to a release sent out about the contest. The winning submission may come from Flagler or St. Johns counties, or from anywhere else in the world.

Recovery Fest 2024 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 21st. It will be held at the Florida Agricultural Museum in Palm Coast, located at the northern end of the city along US-1, not far from Princess Place Preserve.

“We are excited to launch this t-shirt design contest as part of Recovery Fest 2024,” said Pam Birtolo, Executive Director at Flagler OARS. “This competition provides a platform for artists and designers to showcase their creativity while spreading awareness and support for individuals in recovery.”

All entries into the contest will be showcased on the event website and social media outlets over the course of the month of September – which was deemed National Recovery Month by President Joe Biden last year. Prior to that, the month has been observed as an occasion of support for recovering addicts for years.
