FPC Student Arrested For Threatening To Shoot Classmate

Palm Coast, FL - A 16-year-old student at Flagler Palm Coast High School is arrested this morning (October 24th) on campus for threatening to shoot one of his classmates.

That teen - whom WNDB is not naming - now faces a felony charge of false report of using a firearm in a violent manner and a misdemeanor assault charge, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. He was taken from the campus and booked at Flagler County Jail.

The arrest report shows the School Resource Deputy at FPCHS was informed of the incident yesterday, the day after it happened, and made the arrest after speaking to both students this morning.

The other student involved - an 18-year-old - told FCSO he was playing around with a childhood friend by pretending to box with him in a classroom when the 16-year-old moved a chair into his path, saying "you will not touch him" and then implying twice that he would shoot him.

According to the report, the 18-year-old got upset and told the 16-year-old "well do it", to which the 16-year-old replied, "I will... just watch".

The 18-year-old told the FCSO deputy afterward he was in fear for his life because he didn't know the 16-year-old.

When questioned, the 16-year-old told the deputy two separate stories but then backtracked after he was told that several witnesses had already filed statements, per the report.

After he was read the Miranda warning, the 16-year-old admitted that he got involved because he assumed that a real fight was going to break out during his 2nd period class and that he might get hurt during that fight.

The FCSO deputy who did the interview recommended that the 16-year-old be charged instead of given a civil citation based on two other incidents, both of which were redacted from the arrest report. Also blacked out of the report was the boy telling the deputies what he was diagnosed with in the past.

The report did show that the boy admitted to having anger issues that he "probably needs help" with, that his parents keep guns in a safe at home and that he had been bullied "off and on" over the past several years.
