DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A brief panic was caused Monday night after witnesses reported hearing several gunshots in the area around the Daytona Beach Pier. The reported shots occurred near Cruisin' Cafe, a popular restaurant located a short walk from the pier on Atlantic Ave.
The Daytona Beach Police Department confirmed at 10:42 pm Monday night that officers were investigating what had been described as five or six shots. They did not find anywhere that the bullets may have struck, and no individuals were reported injured. Police did, however, discover shell casings on the ground.
Witness reports described an apparent physical confrontation that may have played some role in leading up to the shooting, according to a report from FOX 35 News. Officers began interviewing people who were around the potential shooting, and spoke to business owners in an attempt to find out more through security footage.
