CORRECTION (02-05-19): Holly Hill police have sent a correction saying that Schultz had molested his 6-year-old daughter, not his son. Chief Aldrich confirmed the report earlier tonight.
Earlier reporting below.
Holly Hill, FL - A father, who has previous arrests for failing to register as a sex offender, is now behind bars after molesting his son.
33-year-old Robert Schultz was booked into Volusia County Jail yesterday (February 4th) following reports of him molesting his son.
According to the report, Holly Hill police was originally notified last Thursday (January 31st) when Schultz's wife filed a complaint against him for allegedly molesting their son, which led to police beginning an investigation.
She told police it began a couple of days earlier on January 29th when Schultz approached her and said that earlier in the evening he went into the bathroom to urinate while their son was taking a shower.
He admitted to her that the son observed his exposed penis and he taught him about the parts of a penis.
She told police that this made her extremely concerned and she would confront her son about it the next day after school, wanting to know what really happened.
The son told her that he was showering when his father, Schultz, walked in. He said that when he noticed his father walk into the bathroom, he began to expose himself to his son.
According to his narrative, Schultz would eventually ask him to grab it and "rub on it" for nearly a minute.
Following the conclusion of her interview with Holly Hill police, she made a comment to authorities that a couple of months ago she suspected Schultz might have child pornography on his phone.
She told police that she managed to download a spyware program on his phone without his knowledge.
After installing the spyware, she was able to access the phone from another remote device and found that her husband had access to children having sex under the age of 13 and there were links attached indicating the pornography was downloaded on his phone.
She also told police that after she had confronted him about it, he denied the pornography and destroyed his phone.
The mother would eventually locate his old phone and turn it into police for investigation.
Not long after the interview, police would also inform the Department of Children and Families who would eventually interview Schultz's son.
The son would admit to DCF that his father did expose and he was asked to touch him.
The mother would eventually meet again with police as well as DCF, who would want her to do a controlled call with Schultz.
She made a total of two controlled calls to Schultz. In the first one, she informed her husband that their son had told his teacher that he had exposed himself to him and made him touch his penis.
He was asked what really happened and he told her that while his son was taking a shower he went into the bathroom to urinate and after his son asked about his penis he would explain how it was used to go to the bathroom.
She would then tell her husband that their son had told his teacher that he made him touch his penis, which Schultz would deny.
In the second controlled call, she would inform Schultz that DCF was not getting involved and she really needed to know what happened that evening.
He repeated his same alibi and still denied that his son touched his penis.
After the calls, Holly Hill police along with DCF and the mother would eventually return to Schultz's residence.
Once there, police received a laptop and two other tablet devices from his wife. They were told that the laptop had information from the spyware that she had installed on her husband's old cellphone.
Not long after the devices were seized, Schultz would arrive at his residence, where he would meet with Holly Hill police and DCF.
When requested to appear at the police department for an interview, Schultz became apprehensive and asked to speak with his wife.
After speaking to his wife for a few minutes, he would agree to an interview with police.
Back at Holly Hill Police Department, Schultz would admit to police that he did enter the bathroom as his son was showering to urinate. He said that as he was urinating, he felt uncomfortable that his son was watching him.
However, he would engage in a conversation with his son about it, according to his narrative, while exposing himself to his son.
He told police that he wanted to take care of his son's curiosity about his penis.
When asked if he thought that was considered appropriate behavior, he said that it was wrong but he wanted to help his son.
Police would ask him if that's all that happened, to which Schultz said yes. The officer then informed Schultz that his son had told them more had happened that evening. They said that the son told police that he made him touch his penis instead.
Schultz, however, kept denying that he did. The family would eventually be moved to an undisclosed motel while the investigation continued.
The next day (February 1st), while his son was in his kindergarten class, DCF would eventually pull him aside to talk with him.
They initially noticed that something was bothering him, and when asked what it was he replied "my dad's wiener."
The son would tell DCF that when he was in the shower, his father had made him touch his penis.
Following the conclusion of DCF's interview, Schultz would be arrested and charged with molesting his son, two days after his son's birthday. He's currently in custody at Volusia County Jail, held without bond.
Court documents show that Schultz is set to be arraigned on March 6th.
Schultz has been booked two other times at Volusia County Jail, once in 2014 and 2016, for failing to register as a sex offender.
